I made a quick dash to Cabell Marsh this afternoon to pick up the Am. White Pelicans for Benton Co. When I was there are at 2:00PM (Sunday) there were 13 carefully counted pelicans present. This was a higher count than an of the prior reports, unless I missed one. There was also a small group of immature Yellow-headed Blackbirds (4-5 birds I think) giving their distinctive chatter call from the area with the dead trees on the w. side of the marsh.

Dave Irons
Eugene, OR

> Date: Sun, 27 Jul 2008 13:59:19 -0700
> From: dendroicaman@peak.org
> To: list@midvalleybirding.org; oryoungbirder@midvalleybirding.org
> CC:
> Subject: [birding] Finley, Philomath SP, etc. July 26
>
> Hi all,
>
> My folks and I birded around the valley for much of the morning yesterday.
>
> Gerber Rd (N of Finley) (9AM)
> NO Brewer's Sparrow
> NO Grasshopper Sparrow
> Many SAVANNAH SPARROWS
>
>
> Cabell Marsh (10 AM)
> 5 A.
