 Toolik Alaska. While I'm here I will be working with a graduate<BR>&gt; student,&nbsp;learning botany techniques and helping her with field work. Today we<BR>&gt; spent 8 hours (of the almost 24 hours of daylight) taking leaf samples, and<BR>&gt; recording phenology data.&nbsp;Thanks to Uncle Jake for getting me up here!<BR>&gt; Also, while I am here, I will be taking the opportunity to post for both Jake<BR>&gt; and myself.<BR>&gt; I've been here since Monday July 21st, and I've seen&nbsp;6 life birds. They are<BR>&gt; (in no particular order):<BR>&gt; Snow Bunting<BR>&gt; Spectacled Eider<BR>&gt; Glaucous Gull<BR>&gt; Long-tailed Jaeger<BR>&gt; Lapland Longspur<BR>&gt; Whimbrel<BR>&gt; On Monday before and after I arrived in Toolik,&nbsp;Jake saw these birds for 23<BR>&gt; species:<BR>&gt; Pacific Loon<BR>&gt; Tundra Swan<BR>&gt; Greater-white Fronted Goose<BR>&gt; Canada Goose<BR>&gt; Greater Scaup<BR>&gt; Spectacled Eider<BR>&gt; Northern Harrier
