<DIV>I've been given the opportunity to join my Uncle Jake Schas for 17 days in Toolik Alaska. While I'm here I will be working with a graduate student, learning botany techniques and helping her with field work. Today we spent 8 hours (of the almost 24 hours of daylight) taking leaf samples, and recording phenology data. Thanks to Uncle Jake for getting me up here!</DIV>

<DIV>I've been here since Monday July 21st, and I've seen 6 life birds. They are (in no particular order):</DIV>
