Hi Birders,
Yesterday evening (4/12/08) my uncle and I did a little birding in the Silverton area. At the Torvend Rd. pond we saw a mother GREAT HORNED OWL and her large chick (about the same size as the mother) in the nest. In the pond there were 8 DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTS, 3 BUFFLEHEAD, 8 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 2 BARN SWALLOWS, and 2 WILSON'S SNIPE. In a flooded field below Malarie's Dairy there were 30+ LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS, 4 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 3 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 2 MALLARDS, and 1 DUNLIN in breeding plumage.
