Subject: Cindee's Plea for Birds

Greetings Friends, Acquaintances and Business Associates,

I'm writing with a special plea. At the Village Green Resort, there is a large boiler chimney that is home to hundreds of Vaux's Chimney Swifts (birds related to swallows). They come there every year and patrol the grounds eating small flying insects. The chimney is cracked and in need of reinforcing if it is to stay home to these wonderful birds. I need to raise $4000 by the end of summer to have the necessary work done after the birds leave this fall. If I cannot raise this money, the chimney will be torn down to prevent storm damage and the birds will be left homeless. We are holding assorted fundraisers, such as selling hanging baskets with the profits going towards the chimney, and hosting a fundraising dinner and silent auction on August 3rd. I am, however, still worried that we may fall short so I am appealing to all of you to make donations towards this cause. Anything helps. If you are a member of a garden club or birding society, please ask your members to donate.

Checks can be made out to The Village Green, please put a memo at the bottom that it is for the Swift Chimney.

Send to:

Village Green Swift Chimney

Cottage Grove, Oregon 97424

You may also call 541-942-2491 if you wish to make a credit card donation.

If you would like more information on the dinner and auction, or on buying hanging baskets, you may e-mail me at cynthiae at moonstonehotels.com<mailto:cynthiae at moonstonehotels.com>, or call me at 541-767-4006.

At the end of the summer, if we still have not managed to raise all of the needed funds, the entire amount raised to that point will be turned over to the Lane County Chapter of the Audubon Society to be used towards bird habitat.

This is a very personal project of mine that I have been fighting for, for a long time and I hope that as friends and colleagues of mine, you will dig deep and help a small part of wildlife that cannot help itself.

Thank you so much,

Cindee Eichengreen
