Hi Everyone--it is that time of year when you can apply for memberships.
I'll paste the guidelines for several below but FYI--here is what you
can look for:

*Free AOU membership for 3 years if you are a student and have
not been a previous member of AOU (I believe you can still apply for AOU).

*Free COS membership for 2 years

*$10 will get you a student membership for SCB

*$18 will get you a student membership in the Neotropical Orn.
Society.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    * FREE two-year membership awards for qualifying students: The
Cooper Ornithological Society is always interested in getting more
graduate students involved and provides free student memberships
each year. These student awards cover costs of membership for 2
years and carry full membership benefits, providing an important
launch into ornithological careers at an early stage. To apply,
simply send a CV of the student and a cover letter from the major
professor that describes why the student deserves the award.
Deadline for receipt of applications is 15 Mar 2005. Send
application materials by e-mail or post to:

Department of Biology & Microbiology

*Student Membership Award*
*Applications for AOU Student Membership Awards for 2007 are now being
accepted!*

The Council of the American Ornithologists' Union has voted to provide
one-year student membership awards to qualified undergraduate or
graduate students interested in pursuing a career in ornithology. To
qualify, students must:
1. Have no current or prior membership in the AOU
2. Provide a resume or curriculum vitae describing the current
degree program, the expected date of completion and the candidate's
academic and/or work experience, and interests in ornithology.
3. Provide a brief letter of sponsorship from an academic advisor
on letterhead from the institution in which the student is currently
enrolled.

Membership awards will provide full membership in the AOU (including
subscription to /The Auk/ and /Ornithological Monographs/). They are not
renewable, but recipients can continue to be AOU members at the reduced
student rate for four additional years, as long as they retain student
or post-doctoral status.

Although students may send materials at any time during the academic
year, they are encouraged to send them prior to 1 January 2007 to
receive their first issues of the publications in January. The AOU
reserves the right to limit the number of grants provided during one
academic year to 200.

Mail or e-mail materials together to:

Dr. Daniel Mennill, AOU Student Membership Awards Committee, Department
of Biological Sciences, University of Windsor, Windsor, ON N9B3P4,
Canada. Email: _membershipawards at aou.org_
<mailto:membershipawards at aou.org> - Please use subject heading "AOU
Student Membership Award" if submitting by email.
