Hi All,

I expect everyone got the listserv welcome message.  I think I already 
know most people on the list, but I figured I should introduce my 
partner in this endeavor/our list owner, Jim Norton.  Both of us will 
try to make it run as smoothly as possible.  If others wish to introduce 
themselves and say a little bit about how they got into birding, that 
would be cool.  As for me, I got into birding at about 8 years old, with 
my first bird being a Smew that my folks (both birders) went to see.

Also, now that the listserv has officially started, feel free to 
encourage any younger birding friends/ family to join as well!

I chased the Polk County Sedge Wren yesterday without much success.  One 
promising bird but only a very brief glimpse.  Successfully chased the 
Summer Tanager in Alvadore today.
